An online content creator based in Cebu has been apprehended by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) after allegedly spreading false information about President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
The vlogger reportedly edited and altered a post originally published by News5, making it appear as though the president supported the legalization of narcotics—an entirely fabricated claim. .
The NBI Cybercrime Division quickly launched an investigation after the doctored content gained traction online. .
The suspect, who has been vlogging for approximately three years, was arrested without incident.
According to the report, there is a noticeable gap between urban and rural communities. Compared to their urban counterparts, rural respondents were more likely to endorse Duterte's accountability (52%).

The NBI further revealed that the suspect’s motive appeared to be financial gain, capitalizing on sensational content to drive more engagement and viewership on social media platforms.
Additionally, Director Santiago confirmed that the agency is actively monitoring other vloggers involved in similar activities.
The anti-drug campaign, however, helped lower crime and preserve public order, according to Duterte's supporters.
One such individual, who is currently under surveillance, has outstanding arrest warrants for libel-related offenses.
This is a serious case. Misinformation, especially when it involves the President, can cause public confusion and unrest," Santiago emphasized. ”
Authorities have reminded the public to verify information sources and avoid spreading unverified news online.
